| For some player's in our gaming community they have worked hard, play hard and they are about to realise their dream of taking down that last boss in the raiding instances. The curious thing is that this applies to all our MMO Sections. Lord of the Rings Online section is preparing to take down the LT of Dol Guldor in 'Hard Mode', Ez0 CoE Age of Conan Section is bracing for an attack on their last boss, Both WoW sections Horde/Alliance are building and engaging the Lich King.
I have to say being Europe's Guild Admin has made me have feelings of nothing but pride in all our member's in their efforts and hopefully soon we'll be able to say each section has successfully defeated the end-game bosses in each of the raids.
Good Luck i'm very proud of you all.

| For most of our infrastructure in the United States, we use ColoCrossing. They have been a very good partner in helping to deliver the highest quality service to you. Under typical situations, this would not have brought down access to Chicago as ColoCrossing has redundant links to two network providers. Unfortunately, this outage affected both of those network providers. Here is the official RFO (Reason For Outage) from ColoCrossing:
On Sunday afternoon ColoCrossing experienced a network event which was the result of carrier connectivity trouble. Our providers, Server Central and nLayer were the target of an advanced and carefully crafted Denial of Service attack. The malicious activity was focused on the core equipment of Server Central / nLayer and caused their routers to repeatedly drop IGP (internal) and BGP (external) routing protocols. Our carriers identified the attack and found that it exploited a loophole in the control-plane policer packet matching logic which normally protects against these types of attacks, allowing it to slip past these filters and cause the amount of impact that it did.
As an immediate solution our providers have applied additional packet filters at multiple network edges to block this type of traffic, and they are working with the equipment manufacturer to permanently close the loophole. At this time our carriers are confident that they have successfully blocked the attack and believe the network will be stable moving forward.
ColoCrossing regrets the inconvenience this has caused you and we are working expeditiously to ensure that future problems do not impact our customers. This was an all-hands-on-deck event, and our engineering team has been busy crafting a plan which will add a third carrier to our Chicago network. Once this third transit provider is added (which will be very soon) we will be able to effectively turn off our Server Central and nLayer connectivity should any future problems occur. It’s important to note that our existing network infrastructure was built to the highest standards and Server Central / nLayer have been an amazingly reliable partner for the last seven years. While this excellent track record does not excuse them for today’s problems it is certainly not cause to stop using their network. In the coming days you can look forward to being hosted on the most impressive network in Chicago, consisting of Server Central / nLayer and a third, still to be decided provider.
If anyone is still having issues accessing anything in Chicago, IL (Voice Servers, Web Sites we host, etc), please let us know ASAP and provide WinMTR data, along with your IP Address (the one your ISP has assigned you) so we can supply this information to our provider for them to troubleshoot further. You can download WinMTR from this URL: http://winmtr.sou...
As another layer of redundancy, we will be adding a DNS Server in Dallas, so should the entire Chicago location be unavailable again DNS resolution will still be able to occur in Dallas, allowing everyone to be able to reach their voice servers that aren\'t directly affected by a single location\'s network issue.
We truly appreciate everyone\'s patience and understanding while we worked with ColoCrossing who was working with Server Central and nLayer during this Denial of Service attack that affected both of their network infrastructures in the Chicago, IL area.
Thanks,
Hurricane Host, LLC

| The upstream provider into the Chicago location (nLayer) is currently experiencing issues with their service. Because of that, access to our Voice CPanel is sporadic at best. Unfortunately, we have just now been able to post this news posting because of this issue.
Unfortunately, this also effects DNS resolution, so access to servers outside of Chicago will be effected because the hostnames cannot be resolved. nLayer is fully aware of the situation and is working to resolve ASAP.

| The issue was due to a NLayer issue which has been resolved. It was effecting several locations around the United States.
Thanks for being part of the Hurricane Host family. We do truly appreciate it.
Thanks,

| Today the Chicago area network provider/s were having some issues. Also the data center has reported some minor issues that probably caused the ventrilo instability earleir today. This effected people from all over including me a few times also.
Our host is going to receive some WinMTR data from his other customers who also complained to see what exactly happened and then e-mail us with the results.
All should be stable and working with no problems as the issues have been resolved.
Also, if any of you have WinMTR data you wish to submit, please send it to me asap!
Thanks! | |
